Funeral Ceremonies

Funeral Petals

We believe a funeral should be as unique as the individual and the life they lived, and we will create a ceremony with you and for you that reflects that and ensures your loved one has the best funeral we can possibly give them.

As Independent Celebrants we work with you to create a funeral ceremony that reflects the values and beliefs of your loved one (rather than our own!). A Celebrant led funeral can be as traditional or as individual as you would like it to be and can include religious elements or secular rituals – or neither – as you wish.

We both understand what a difficult time this is likely to be and will do everything we can to make creating the funeral service as straightforward as we can, providing guidance and support throughout, delivered with compassion and kindness.

What to expect

Within a couple of hours of the Funeral Director asking one of us to act as your Celebrant we will ring or email you to introduce ourselves and arrange a meeting.

One of us will meet with you (and whoever else you want to join you). We are happy to meet with you at your home or wherever you are most comfortable. We will give you as much time as you need to talk through the different aspects of the funeral and to make sure that we have all the information we need to create a very personal ceremony.

After our meeting we will create a script that covers every aspect of the funeral we have planned together, including the tribute to your loved one (sometimes known as the eulogy). We have lots of resources available to help choose the perfect music, poetry, readings etc. that best reflect the story of your loved one’s life and can include examples of whichever we think would be most suitable if you aren’t sure yourselves.

Once we have completed the draft of the script, we will send this to you (unless you ask us not to) so that you can check the content and we can make any changes you require before the funeral takes place.

On the day of the funeral we will greet you and the other mourners at the crematorium or cemetery as you arrive and will then lead the Funeral service for you. We will be available immediately after the funeral as well.

Within 5 days of the funeral we will send you a printed memorial copy of the funeral ceremony to keep (unless you would prefer us not to).

Each of us is available via email or phone and will provide as much guidance and support as you need to ensure the funeral ceremony reflects the life, values and beliefs of your loved one and that you are able to gain some comfort from it.
